"I code and simulate ideas !!💻"Â
I am an experienced Data Scientist and PhD Fellow at the University of Idaho (UoI), specializing in spatial infectious disease modelling. With a strong background in data systems development, I have worked with water and sanitation and global health organizations to build RShiny dashboards, automated data applications, and comprehensive data management tools. My experience spans over a decade in roles such as Senior Associate in Data Analysis and Monitoring, where I contributed to impactful health programs across Kenya, Uganda, Liberia, Ethiopia, and Malawi.
As a Data Scientist at Washington State University-GHK, I developed data interoperability dashboards for many research studies. Just to mention a few!!! In 2022/23, I developed a data system linking SurveyCTO (https://www.surveycto.com/) and Rshiny, which was used to review both medical and verbal autopsy interview data in Kenya for the study titled "Validation of WHO COVID-19 Verbal Autopsy tool for determining cause of death in Kenya during the COVID 19 Pandemic". I have also in been involved in development of a medical data ecosystem to monitor burden of "Acute Respiratory Illnesses among Healthcare Workers in Kenya Study (BoARI)". The system connects RedCap (Used to send weekly texts to health workers ) to RShiny (used to process, visualize and monitor study key indicators) using APIs, with high level of data interoperability.Â
A data fanatic, I believe in using data to drive decisions and am passionate about developing scalable, efficient solutions to complex challenges in health and development sectors. My technical expertise includes R programming, SPSS, and advanced statistical modeling. I am always eager to collaborate on innovative projects that leverage data for positive social impact.
