Research: Goal
How host's movements patterns influences its exposure to infectious diseases? is the global question that my doctorate work is seeking to address. We aim to quantify the relationship between host movement trajectories and disease transmission risk, considering both direct host-to-host interactions and indirect environmental exposure. By analyzing navigation patterns and spatial behaviors, our research seeks to develop predictive models for disease acquisition probability based on movement characteristics.
To achieve this, we will use movement information of pastoral communities in East Africa and their exposure to Brucella sp. bacteria, which is transmitted through direct contact and contamination of the enviroment.
